At 13, I got hit by a car.

At 14, BRACES!

At 15, teased by the Black kids, hated by the white kids.....

At 16, depression started.....

At 17, my only high school crush died on the basketball court two days before Valentine's Day. My cousin, and his friend, was killed in a car accident the morning after prom just three months later.

At 18, no prom date I went to a concert with my mom.

AT 19, I dropped out of college....Depression, again.

At 20, I went back to college...IU -well, what can I say?

And you think that no one understands what you're going through?
The Coffeehouse has assembled the answers to some pretty tough questions. If you have more you'd like to see included,

The teen years ARE NOT easy. But there are a few things you have to understand.

  • You're a child of God and he doesn't make any mistakes!

  • Just because YOU aren't sure if your will wake up as Jekyll or Hyde, you have no right to leave everyone in the dark. Tell your loved ones who you are today - they will treat you accordingly and with patience.

  • Parents do make mistakes - you didn't come with an instruction booklet.
  • Learn to forgive, others and YOURSELF!
  • Ask questions of people who really know some answers...you deserve the TRUTH!
  • Realize that there is NO failure in falling down - the failure occurs when you refuse to get back up.
  • The first time you try drugs might be your last.
  • It's OK to test your sense of independence, but don't burn the bridges at home (you may have to move back in)!
  • The first time you have sex might result in a baby.
  • I saved the bills from my first son; the total was well over $12,500 (and we had insurance!)
  • Never waste time on someone who you would never consider as a mate for life.
  • Start saving for your future - there are more teenage millionaires now than ever in the history of the United States!
  • Hey - I'm still standing, nearly 30 years later...and guess what, so will you!
